How it works
the journey of the ice cream to the sea becomes The Journey of the Ice Cream to the Sea.
- The first word of every line, and the first word after a colon, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark, always gets a capital.
- Small words are kept lowercase: a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, so, yet, as, at, by, in, of, on, to, up, via and per. Untick the option to capitalise them as well.
- Acronyms in capitals (NASA, BBC) are left alone. Untick that option to convert them too.
Each line is treated as a separate headline.
Style guides differ
Title case has no single standard. This tool follows the common newspaper style, in which short prepositions and conjunctions stay lowercase. If your style guide capitalises words of four letters or more, or has other rules, adjust the result by hand. To capitalise every word regardless, use capitalize each word.
