How to add fractions
- Make the denominators equal. For 2/3 + 1/4 the least common multiple of 3 and 4 is 12, so 2/3 = 8/12 and 1/4 = 3/12.
- Add the numerators. 8/12 + 3/12 = 11/12.
- Simplify if possible, by dividing the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor.
