How it works

Each character is written as its decimal code. Letters, digits and basic punctuation are ASCII, codes 0 to 127: A is 65, a is 97, 0 is 48 and a space is 32.

Characters outside ASCII, like é or an emoji, can be shown in two ways:

  • Unicode number (default): é is 233.
  • UTF-8 bytes: é is 195 169.

Separate the numbers with a space or a comma. The note tells you how many characters were outside ASCII. For hexadecimal or binary output, use text to hex or text to binary; for U+00E9 style notation, use text to Unicode.
