What is URL encoding?
Web addresses may only contain a small set of characters. URL encoding (percent-encoding) replaces every other byte with % followed by two hexadecimal digits: a space becomes %20, and é becomes %C3%A9. Letters, digits and - . _ ~ stay as they are.
