SMS QR code generator

Make a QR code that opens a text message. Whoever scans it gets a new message to your number with the text already filled in. Handy for a sign-up, a vote or a quick question.

How it works

  1. Type your text or link

  2. Choose the settings

  3. Download

    As a PNG for a website or a document, or as an SVG for print.

How to use it

  1. Enter the phone number, preferably with the country code, such as +44 7700 900123. Spaces, brackets and dashes are removed.
  2. Type the message that should be filled in beforehand. That is optional.
  3. Download the code as a PNG or SVG.

Does it work on every phone?

The code uses the common SMSTO: format. Android phones and many QR scanner apps recognise it; iPhones usually open it too, but that differs per version. So test the code with both an Android phone and an iPhone before you print it.

Tips

  • Use the number with the country code, so it also works from abroad.
  • Keep the message short for a tidy code that scans well.
  • Whoever scans the code still has to tap send themselves, and normal text message charges apply.
