What is a ZIP comment?
A ZIP file can carry a short text of up to 65,535 bytes, stored at the end of the archive. It is handy for a description, a version number, a licence or contact details.
Where do you see it?
Programs such as 7-Zip and WinRAR show the comment when you open the archive, and on the command line you can read it with unzip -z. Some programs don't show it at all, but it stays in the file.
Using the tool
Drop a ZIP file in the box, type the comment and click Save and download. To get rid of a comment, click Remove comment. Because only the end of the file is rewritten, the rest of the archive is not recompressed or touched.
