ZIP or 7z?
- ZIP opens on every computer and phone without extra software.
- 7z is often smaller than ZIP, and it opens in 7-Zip, WinRAR and, on a Mac, Keka.
Compression level
Choose Fast for a quick result, Normal for a good balance, or Maximum for the smallest file, which takes longer. Files that are already compressed, such as JPG photos, videos and PDFs, hardly get smaller at any level.
Password protection
Both formats can be protected with a password, using AES-256. With 7z the file names are hidden too. The receiver needs a program that can open encrypted archives.
Private by design
The archive is made in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
