Step by step
The hue slider shifts every colour by a number of degrees, from −180° to +180°. A small shift, say 10–20°, corrects a colour cast or warms and cools the image slightly. A large shift, such as 120° or 180°, gives a completely different palette: at 180° every colour becomes its opposite, while brightness stays the same.
Uses
- Fixing a colour cast, such as an image that looks too green or too yellow.
- Recolouring a logo or icon in a different brand colour.
- Creative effects. Combine with saturation to make the new colours stronger or weaker.
Greys, blacks and whites have no hue, so they don't change. That's the difference with inverting, which flips brightness as well.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between hue and inverting colours?
Hue rotates the colours but keeps the brightness. Inverting flips everything, so light becomes dark. A hue shift of 180° gives each colour its opposite without changing how light it is.
Will the quality suffer?
No. The download has the same resolution as your original, unless the tool changes the size itself. Save as PNG to keep every detail, or as JPG or WebP for a smaller file.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your image never leaves your device and is not stored.
