How to enlarge
Set the scale from 100% to 400%, or type the width or height in pixels; the other side follows so the image doesn't get distorted. The preview line shows the old and new size.
What enlarging can and can't do
Enlarging adds pixels, but it can't add detail that was never captured. The tool uses smooth resampling, so edges stay clean and the image doesn't look blocky, but a very small photo blown up to four times its size will still look soft. For the best results, start from the largest original you have and enlarge by no more than 2×.
The tool stops at about 40 megapixels, which is what browsers can reliably handle; the info line adds (maximum) when you reach that limit. To go the other way, use shrink image.
Frequently asked questions
Does enlarging an image lose quality?
An enlarged image can never be sharper than the original, but the tool uses smooth resampling so it looks as clean as possible. Enlarge by 2× or less for the best result, and save as PNG to avoid extra compression.
Is there a maximum size?
Yes, about 40 megapixels, for example 7,000 × 5,700 pixels. Browsers can't handle much more than that reliably.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your image never leaves your device and is not stored.
